Islands Odyssey First Arrivals in Barbados

Australian yacht Whisper HR was the first to make landfall in Barbados in the inaugural Islands Odyssey rally, arriving the afternoon of Sunday 6 December after less than two weeks at sea. Having left the Cape Verdes on 24 November the yachts had made the shortest possible crossing  of 2020 nautical miles and arrived to a warm Barbadian welcome.

Vetocean was the second yacht to finish a few hours later, followed on the morning of December 7 by Blue Moon and Nangilima.

Xela also arrived on 8 December and the rest of the fleet is due in the next few days.

WHISPER HR arrives safely at 17:15. They are greeted by Peter Gilkes from the Barbados government, Devon Chase from Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, a representative from Barbados Yacht Club and Alex Bell from Cornell Sailing Events Education and Outreach Program
