The European Odyssey boats have all safely arrived from Hamburg and are enjoying the lovely summer sunshine in London.
The yachts had perfect conditions at the start from Hamburg with some of the boats completing the first part of the journey down the River Elbe to Cuxhaven just under sail. After an overnight stay in Cuxhaven waiting for the tide, the boats set off once more to London, where south westerly winds right on the nose did slow them down somewhat.
However, a small matter of some football game in Brazil was enough motivation for the German participants to ensure they got to London in time to watch the game.
They are joined in London by Dunbar Lewis on his Dockrell 27 and Matteo Miami on his Pogo 40. All the crews joined together Wednesday evening for a wonderful barbecue hosted by the Cruising Association. Over the next few days, the crews will be enjoying the sights of London and preparing their boats for the short hop across the channel to Cherbourg.
